Role: Senior Research Coordinator (Operations Lead, Cancer Trials Cork) | CUH

Location: CUH/UCC Cancer Centre

Salary: €82,00 p.a.

Closing date: 10/01/2025

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Research Coordinator will work closely with the UCC Cancer Trials Group and

wider management team to ensure all operational, administrative, and compliance functions

within CUH/UCC Cancer Centre are being properly executed in accordance to best practices.

This will include the following duties:

• Take responsibility for the ongoing development and implementation of Cancer Trials

Cork @ CUH operational management systems, policies, procedures and best practices.

• Oversee, direct and manage the unit’s comprehensive nursing, data management and

financial operations.

• Identify and implement efficiencies and improvements within Cancer Trials Cork @ CUH

operational processes and procedures.

• Oversee the daily operational management of the HR aspects of the Cancer Trials Cork

@CUH including staff recruitment, onboarding and induction.

• Act as the primary business strategist for Cancer Trials Cork @CUH, aligning with the

UCC Cancer Trials Group and ensuring the CUH/UCC Cancer Centre meets its strategic

objectives including attaining Comprehensive Cancer Centre status over coming years.

• Provide leadership and direction for the existing team members in Cancer Trials Cork

across domains of nursing, administrative and financial expertise; promoting teamwork,

innovation, and professional development.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• A PhD or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or discipline.(E.g. Business

Administration, Healthcare Management, Clinical Research)

• At least 5-10 years management experience in a research-active entity, to include human

resources management and experience of managing a team in a research environment.

• Excellent programme management skills and a demonstrated track record of managing

multiple projects with evidence of good management practice.

• Demonstrated track record of successful leadership and team management, with the

ability to mentor, guide and develop multidisciplinary teams in complex project

environments.

• Strategic and analytical thinking skills with a history of solving complex operational and

managerial challenges in a dynamic research landscape.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with

staff, students and stakeholders.

• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with proven ability to

navigate partnerships across various sectors and levels, including international

collaborations.

• Ability to develop good working relationships.

• Experience of working in a multidisciplinary research team environment and working with

people from a wide range of cultures.

• Capacity to manage and prioritise a high workload, with a track record of delivering

results under pressure and on time.

• Excellent IT skills including MS Office and spreadsheet packages.
